  1. Steve Mahofski

In top form, and unhampered by Hugo & Luigi’s misguided disco/vegas arrangements this CD is a true delight. While it is a true solo outing with Thompkins really nailing it (a true team player, his performances with The Stylistics were always carefully modulated to maintain the group sound) it also features a moving “April Fools” that would not be out of place on a Stylistics greatest hits album. Speaking of the Stylistics, Thompkins modernizes “People Make The World Go ‘Round” the most seventiesish of their singles. The new version really brings out the message as opposed to the original’s clever arrangement. The kids might even enjoy it. All in all a nostalgia trip to be certain but one that manages to feel new and exciting as well.
