Born February 3rd in Birmingham, Alabama to Reverend and Mrs. Dennis Edwards Sr., he began singing as a toddler, just two years old, in his fathers' church. By 1961 he had organized his own group "Dennis Edwards and the Fireballs." Five Years later, he joined the recording group "The Contours." His Temptations career began in 1968 when he was selected as the replaement for lead singer Mr. David Ruffin. "Everyone wondered what would happen, because David was HUGE." said Mr. Edwards in one radio interview.

The public was not to be disappointed. With the presence of Mr. Edwards, The Temptations enjoyed some of their most remarkable achievements.
